Swiss National Bank introduces the new CHF1000

The new CHF1000 banknote will start to circulate on the 13th of March, joining the 10, 20, 50, 200 that are already in use throughout the country. The note follows the general theme of "The Many Facets of Switzerland", dedicated to showcasing typically Swiss characteristics. This time it is the turn of communication, as demonstrated by language, a natural choice in Switzerland! Showing that the note is part of a family of notes, the CHF1000 retains the use of the hand and globe motifs that are present on all the other notes of the series. The CHF1000 adopts the same state-of-the-art security features and substrate - Landqart's Durasafe - as the rest of the family, and retains the familiar purple colour.

This is the fifth note of the series to enter circulation. The sixth and final note, the CHF100, will be introduced on September 3, 2019, and will enter circulation on 12 September, completing the introduction of the 9th Series, which started in 2016.
